Commissioned Books/Ghostwriting

I have been commissioned to write books on business, university and hospital medical departments and cultural institutions. This includes two anniversary books for Canwest Global Communications (1997 and 2002), and histories of the University of Manitoba departments of Anesthesia (2019), Radiology (2021), and Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences (2022).

I have reviewed many manuscripts for other authors and collaborated with an author in a major rewriting of a book, which was later published. I was noted author Peter C. Newman’s chief researcher for his three-volume history of the Hudson’s Bay Company (1982-1990) and for his biography, Izzy: The Passionate Life and Turbulent Times of Izzy Asper, Canada’s Media Mogul (2008). In 2014, I co-authored with Newman the book, Miracle at the Forks: The Museum That Dares Make a Difference about the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. And I have assisted on a ghostwriting memoir project for an international businessman.

My research skills in both non-fiction and fiction as well as my experience interviewing hundreds of individuals—from former prime ministers of Canada, premiers and mayors to business magnates to newspaper and television journalists to lawyers and doctors to community leaders to Holocaust survivors—enable me to listen and write a client’s story in their voice—whether it is a memoir, history or an article or book about a significant issue.

I am flexible and have easily collaborated with clients and editorial and book committees. I am able to travel in order to spend the time required with a client;  and I have never missed a writing deadline in more than four decades.
